PRIMARY PATTERN
RELATING PATTERN
A prompt for reflection
A perspective to explore, not a fixed prediction.
Your immediate response
The conditions around you
Read the two patterns together
The lower trigram offers a lens for your immediate response; the upper offers a lens for the conditions around it. Changing lines mark a structural relationship. The relating hexagram offers a second perspective rather than a promised future. With no changing lines, explore the present pattern more closely.
Eight images of change.
Explore the eight trigrams.
Learning about a trigram does not change your cast.
Begin with a question.
Leave with room to act.
One next step: Name one part of the situation you can adjust and one condition you cannot control. Choose an action that still makes sense if change takes longer than you hope.
Your cast and note are processed in this tab. Copy or download them before leaving; restarting keeps your note.
How this reading works
Each cast uses three independent virtual coins. Heads contributes 2 and tails contributes 3. The sum makes one line: 6 is changing yin, 7 stable yang, 8 stable yin and 9 changing yang. Six casts build from the bottom upwards.
The traditional King Wen sequence identifies the hexagram from its lower and upper trigrams. Only values 6 and 9 reverse in the relating pattern. The reflection prompts are original site writing; they do not reproduce a classical translation or promise an outcome.
What do changing lines mean?
Values 6 and 9 mark a change in structure: yin becomes yang, or yang becomes yin. Select a marked line after casting to explore a reflection prompt. The relating pattern is another perspective, not a guaranteed future.
Can I save my reading?
After all six casts, copy or download the full question, coin record, primary pattern, changing-line prompts, relating pattern and your optional note. Download creates a text file on your device; no account or upload is needed.
Does this quote an ancient translation?
No. Hexagram names and trigram structure are traditional; the reflection prompts are written for this site.
