How the calculation works
Sun and Moon use geocentric tropical positions. Rising is the intersection of the true ecliptic of date with the eastern geometric horizon. A selected city represents its centre; use your own coordinates when needed. Historical timezone rules come from your browser.
Unknown times show the possible Sun and Moon signs sampled across the local birth day, without a Rising sign. Approximate times sample the selected window at one-minute intervals. These ranges are estimates. At latitudes of 66° or more north or south, this version leaves Rising unresolved. This is not a full natal chart or house calculation.

In modern Western astrology, the Sun is often read through identity, vitality and purpose. It can be a useful place to ask what feels personally meaningful, rather than simply choosing a personality label.
Try this: “I feel most like myself when…” Write an answer before reading your sign description. Compare the two without forcing a match.
The Moon: what helps you feel held
The Moon is associated with emotional habits, familiar responses and a sense of safety. Its symbolism can bring attention to what you need when tired, unsettled or at home with people you trust.
The Moon travels through a sign in roughly two to three days. On a day when it changes signs, your birth time determines which placement applies. The snapshot shows possible signs when your time is unknown.
The Rising sign: how you meet a moment
The Ascendant is the point of the zodiac meeting the eastern horizon at a particular place and time. Its sign is commonly called the Rising sign. Astrologers connect it with approach, presence and the beginning of the house framework.
You cannot reliably infer it from appearance, a Sun sign or a date alone. A birth certificate or another timed record is a better starting point than a personality quiz.
Let the three speak together
Imagine a hypothetical Sun in Leo, Moon in Virgo and Libra Ascendant: a wish to express yourself, a need for practical order and an attentive approach to other people. Instead of calling these contradictory, ask where each appears in your life.
A journal exercise: write three short lines beginning “I want…”, “I need…” and “I approach new situations by…”. Notice where these support one another and where you might negotiate a balance.

Which of the three is the real me?
No single placement describes a whole person. Treat these as different symbolic lenses, and keep your circumstances, choices and lived experience in the picture.
Does my Rising sign change as I get older?
Your natal Ascendant refers to the same birth moment. Other chart techniques describe different moments or cycles, but they do not replace that natal position.
